ben_pike
As you have not had too much response, I thought I would add my comments. Hampshire is a large county in the UK and has several large towns and as it is on the south coast, there are many tourist traps and attractions. I recomend the Isle of White for beaches, white cliffs (western end) and for the traditional English holiday atmosphere. Winchester has many historic buildings, Southampton is a large and busy port, Portsmouth is a more military port with a great museum which houses the HMS Victory and Mary Rose among others. Most town centres in the UK have a mix of teenagers in tracksuits smoking and people shopping, so not too much for candids, but most small towns and villages will have fetes or village days which are a lot more colourful. The coast in England is always worth a visit for the ubiqutous beach huts and the English habit of spending time on the beach no matter the weather. I have seen people picnicing on the beach on a cold and windy new years day complete with wine and Christmas crackers.I hope you enjoy your visit.
