chrisdurnin
I saw this on polaroid's site.... SX-70 Manipulation Issues It has recently been brought to our attention that, due to a change in manufacturing process, current supplies of Time-Zero film no longer have the ability to be "manipulated" for Creative purposes. This is an unintended - and unanticipated - consequence of a process change. We understand the passion that the artistic community has for the Creative Uses technique, and want to assure you that we are taking this situation very seriously. We are currently working on possible solutions, though we cannot promise a replacement product. We are very sorry for this situation, and again, are treating it with the utmost urgency. We will post further updates on this site as they become available. ....Does anyone here know how to tell which packages of film started using this "new" process? I ask because I really wanted to try some timezero manip., and I work at a camera store...and I'm not sure how old the film at the shop is (I haven't been there long)...so maybe the film at the shop is the "good stuff"...is there a way to tell? Help please.

silent1
There's been a list of known good or known bad date codes, somewhere. If you do a Google search on - "SX-70" "Time-Zero" manipulation - (including the quotes, everything between the hyphens) you should find it. I think it was on APUG; if you don't find it directly, the forums there are open to non-members, and they have an internal search.
wickedmartini
I received word late last week that there are some good emulsions for manipulating in stock. You can order direct from Polaroid. www.polaroid.com
wickedmartini
I posted this in another thread... I have confirmed with one of my sources at Polaroid that there are some emulsions in stock that will manipulate. They can also provide you with a complete list of emulsions that may be out there that will manipulate. Give polaroid a call and order direct. 1-800-225-1618. silent1
Bad news is, Polaroid has (since the last post above) announced the discontinuation of the Time-Zero film ("due to discontinuation of critical components"). The 600 Platinum and Type 779 will continue, and it's possible (not even very hard) to modify the older cameras to use it successfully, but it won't manipulate, except a limited capability to do emulsion lifts...
