How valuable is the Video tab?

Wow! You know, I know that I am a little slow at times and at the risk of showing my stupidity I have to say that I had no idea that these were here. Man Photo Net just seems to have more and more. I thought this was a place for a vidio forum of some sort, and since I am a very new member I have a lot to learn. Anyway I started looking at these vidios and I think that they are just Great!. I definitly plan to view them on a regular basis. Hope you are not planing to remove them. They seem to be very informative and also just enjoyable to look at. Thanks for bringing them to my attention.

Sincerly

Please do NOT delete them before I have had a chance to watch them. They are on my 'to watch' list. At the very least, please give us fair warning if you intend to delete them. I had a view of some and they gave me several valuable tips -- including one that may have seemed obvious about use of tripod for supersteady captures. That alone, for me, a nontripod user, was worth sitting through hours of videos. I am sure there is a wealth of other tips which I could learn from, but I have to have unencumbered use of my computer

AND a superhighspeed connection (and I'm burning several years of photos on DVD, and I can't burn and watch videos at once.)

So, please, advance warning if you intend to delete videos, please. What I have seen was very professionally done. I wasn't in a hurry to watch, knowing they would 'always be there', and now I'm a little worried.

There is a plug in for Firefox that lets you use IE for this application. I added mine quite some time ago and am not sure where I got it. It was relatively painless to download and use. It works to channel the videos to IE.

I have not watched them for a while, as they were repeats. I presumed I had seen all of them. They were usefull with some good information served up in a reasonably easy viewing mode.

heh....I always thought that was for shooting with a video camera. So, now that I've actually looked at it....keep it there for a couple months and then ask again. On first look at the first one, looks interesting for nature photographers. I have to assume the portrait and wedding stuff later on is as good. But, I still have to watch them. Spirer should do one on Street.....that would be cool.

Philip - to answer your question, I didn't even know they were there until I saw this thread.

Channeling the video to IE is not a hack that I'm particularly thrilled about. If I wanted to use IE, I would just use IE (except when I'm on my linux boxes, where I assume the video is broken). There are many other media players out there that work on all platforms - why not use one of those. Even an inline windows media player works on all platforms (including linux)!

Thanks for the feedback, folks. Little danger of the content being removed. If few are watching, however, it probably doesn't merit a tab in the navbar on all 2 million+ pages that we serve every day. Maybe a link from the Learn section. It also doesn't make sense to me to segregate content by type. If the video is about photographing people, it should go in the Learn section; if about choosing a camera, in the Equipment section.

Sorry, Active X is banned here for security reasons. Too many holes in IE6 to be considered save on computers which might contain restricted information, per my contract this includes any private computer which is used to connect to company resources like out mail server.

The bad sides of being an admin in a company producing enterprise software.
