steve deer
and why... I don't usually do the family pic thing. Whenever they see me pick up my camera, they know I'm going walkabout. But this is my boy Joe. Taken with my M3 and 50mm f2 collapsible cron and hp5+. We were on holiday in the Domican and it was incredibly hot. He's feeding on his staple diet of french fries and lethargic because of the heat which shows in his eyes and the way his body hangs. What I like about it is the out of focus area... particularly the waiter in the background. And it just looks so 1950's... it also prints beautifully up to 24 inches on the long side on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag 308gsm running QuadtoneRip on an Epson 4000 with ultrachrome inks Let's see your own faves...

doug herr
My favorite photo so far this year is this one, of my neighbor's horse:

Leicaflex SL, 400mm f/6.8 Telyt, Kodachrome 64

blakley
I've posted this already in another thread. The 75mm Summicron can clearly do what I had hoped it would - I'm itching to try it on more subjects.

kenny allyn
Also taken with an M3 and 50mm f2 collapsible summicron ... I like the look ... as if it might have been taken in 1905 rather than 2005.

dmaree
I'd like to add a pic taken with my Panasonic DMC LC1 (Leica Digilux 2 twin). A sweet little digi cam with an awesome lens.

stephane camus
I took many pictures this year that I love. I selected this one because it catches a great expression of both my wife and her best friend (behind her).
I find it hard to get a decent family shot. For this one, I open the Summicron 50 to f2.8 (or maybe f3.5...) in order to get a blurry background and sharp eyes. I focused on my wife eye then framed the picture as you can see it. No cropping or sharpening. The rest was done by the girls. It was quick, I shot 3 frames and that was all. This one is my favorite.
This year, I changed my way of taking pictures. I was relying more on DOF before, but now I try to open wider and work on more pleasing background. I like it so far.
Happy shooting!
