rjm photo
John If you do happen to get "The Hasselblad Manual" by Ernst Wildi, please make certain you get an old enough version to cover your lens and camera. Recently I got a beautiful 500CM (1980) with 80mm Planar (1969)..and I just bought a 50mm (CT) and my version of this reference book, fourth edition, 1992, covers very little to nothing on the old lenses and only an infrequent mention of the 500CM. ulrik
Go to www.zeiss.de and download the datasheet of the 150 mm C-lens which gives the specs of the lens. Go to www.hasselblad.se and download the manual of the 500 C camera which describes the operation of C-lenses. Enjoy it! I have a silver example of the lens and really like it. paul_neuthaler
Great lens: I love it & even use it with one of the Japanese 2X Extenders. Still a great lens!
johnmarkpainter
There aren't very many features. Do you understand how the aperture/shutter speed coupling works? Does yours have a self-timer ("V")?
conwaygroup
Thanks to all for the input. I've got Wilde 5th edition. I understand the workings of the lens. I'm just one of those guys who wants to leave nothing to assumption. Got the lens from a guy on ebay. Very clean body and glass, and it is the silver edition. It does have the V setting for the timer which was one of my first questions I had about the lens. There is also a X and a M that you can select with the flash synchronization lever. Am I correct in assuming that X is Auto and M is Manual? The only other lens I have for my 501CM right now is the 80 mm CFE. Would love to find a clean 40mm. Thanks for the tip about the Hasselblad site...I totaly forgot about that as a source. Good luck to all. John
conwaygroup
Sorry, meant the Zeiss site...not Hassey. It's early as we prepare for a red eye flight to the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California for a long weekend vacation. Thanks again. John
q.g._de_bakker
John,<br><br>"M" stands for "medium" and is the setting to be used with medium speed flash bulbs (you perhaps remember the things). "X" stands for electronic flash.<br>When set to "M", the flash is triggered before the shutter, to allow the bulbs to ignite and reach 'full burn' when the shutter is open. Electronic flash does not need this headstart, and non- or underexposure will be the result when using electronic flash at "M".
conwaygroup
Thanks for shedding the light on the X and M settings. Yes I do remember the flash bulbs but my Dad wouldn't let me play with them. Flash cubes were the vougue when I was old enough to take pictures on my own. Guess I'll just leave it on X. Thanks
