eBay has a zillion transactions, and, expectedly, a number of "missers"/frauds

 

Leica Forum has buyers who express sincere interest and then legally commit

themselves, but then back out! And recently, I even encountered a seller who

commits himself, but then doesn't want to sell; he might try to abuse the

forum by running "a highest bidder excercise", ref.

Nothing new. More than once, I've even seen people explicitly running silent auctions right here in this forum, saying something like "please send me your offers" or "I'm taking offers" without even stating an asking price.

Torben, this seems to be another case where your emails aren't going through to the seller

due to a spam filter. I suggest you pick up a new email address (something simple like a

gmail address) and perhaps you will have better luck. But I also suggest that you don't jump

to the conclusion that everyone is out to get you. I think most sellers here are honest, and

frankly, I think the same thing about ebay, but obviously there is more fraud on ebay.

Torben is refering to my ad. I politely told him I didn't want to ship to Maylasia. He then became abusive and condescending. I never commited myself to sell to him. The lens was sold to a fellow photo.netter.

Terry: This is not rocket science; rather an issue in the cross field between law and ethics: If the item is still available, and a buyer unconditionally accepts a seller�s price and all other conditions stated, the seller is obliged to sell to that buyer!! Torben, you are being very childish. Terry explained to you his reason for not selling to

you. He did not want to sell to Malaysia. And if you look back to the thread where we had

our own issue, you will see that the exact words I wrote were this: <P>"I owe Torben an

did not follow through with the sale was because your emails stopped appearing in my

inbox. I had no malicious intent. Your first response was to call me computer illiterate,

Politely talking to this buffoon is a waste of time. It's tough dealing with someone that has

such a hard time both reading and understanding. Just kill filter the fool, then all his whiny

rants go right in the trash unread.

In Torben's defence I should say that he advertised items for free here a while back. He sent me a set of excellent B+W large format filters from malaysia, for free. That was a nice gesture and I look forward to using them very soon.

Is this never ending tirade over a magnifier? There are always two sides to every story,

and I am frankly tired of two supposedly grownups trading insults over a MAGNIFIER.

Grow up and deal with it outside of this forum. I thought we were hearing about the sale

of a nuclear reactor. A magnifier???? Then again, I suppose it was a Leica nuclear reactor,

sorry, magnifier.
