torben_daltoft
eBay has a zillion transactions, and, expectedly, a number of "missers"/frauds Leica Forum has buyers who express sincere interest and then legally commit themselves, but then back out! And recently, I even encountered a seller who commits himself, but then doesn't want to sell; he might try to abuse the forum by running "a highest bidder excercise", ref. http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00HM1h
fred_c1
Nothing new. More than once, I've even seen people explicitly running silent auctions right here in this forum, saying something like "please send me your offers" or "I'm taking offers" without even stating an asking price. fred_c1
Sorry Torben. I didn't know "a highest bidder exercise" was a different animal from an auction, whether silent or otherwise.

stuart_richardson
Torben, this seems to be another case where your emails aren't going through to the seller due to a spam filter. I suggest you pick up a new email address (something simple like a gmail address) and perhaps you will have better luck. But I also suggest that you don't jump to the conclusion that everyone is out to get you. I think most sellers here are honest, and frankly, I think the same thing about ebay, but obviously there is more fraud on ebay.
terry_dent1
Torben is refering to my ad. I politely told him I didn't want to ship to Maylasia. He then became abusive and condescending. I never commited myself to sell to him. The lens was sold to a fellow photo.netter.
torben_daltoft
Stuart: Your statement was immediately falsified by the seller, Mr. Terry Dent, ref. below! AND: In your written apology to me then, you admitted that my mails were in your inbox! but that you had not bothered to read them before you and your assistant or hired hand (the so-called Jon) groundlessly exposed me to the forum
torben_daltoft
Terry: This is not rocket science; rather an issue in the cross field between law and ethics: If the item is still available, and a buyer unconditionally accepts a sellers price and all other conditions stated, the seller is obliged to sell to that buyer!! But perhaps ethics is a new word to you?
stuart_richardson
Torben, you are being very childish. Terry explained to you his reason for not selling to you. He did not want to sell to Malaysia. And if you look back to the thread where we had our own issue, you will see that the exact words I wrote were this: <P>"I owe Torben an apology, as the emails are indeed among the thousands in my bulk mail folder. I will say that I did check the folder several times and never saw your emails. It is also odd that the first several emails you sent had no difficulty getting through, and then when it came to payment they were all blocked. I only wish you would have responded here or made a post to get my attention. I certainly had no reason to not send you the magnifier." <P>They were not in my inbox, they were in the bulk mail folder, AKA the SPAM folder. If yahoo is putting your email address in the spam folder, something is wrong. My filter was at the lowest settings. But in any case, you need to chill out. Please remember that I went to a foreign country and spent my own money to BUY YOU something, and the only reason I did not follow through with the sale was because your emails stopped appearing in my inbox. I had no malicious intent. Your first response was to call me computer illiterate, which is abusive and condescending...<P>Anyway, I have to get ready for a flight...I don't have time to deal with this crap. I was just trying to help...
__jon__
>I politely told him I didn't want to ship to Maylasia. He then became abusive and condescending. I never commited myself to sell to him. Politely talking to this buffoon is a waste of time. It's tough dealing with someone that has such a hard time both reading and understanding. Just kill filter the fool, then all his whiny rants go right in the trash unread.
ben conover
In Torben's defence I should say that he advertised items for free here a while back. He sent me a set of excellent B+W large format filters from malaysia, for free. That was a nice gesture and I look forward to using them very soon. Cheers. wayne_murphy8
Is this never ending tirade over a magnifier? There are always two sides to every story, and I am frankly tired of two supposedly grownups trading insults over a MAGNIFIER. Grow up and deal with it outside of this forum. I thought we were hearing about the sale of a nuclear reactor. A magnifier???? Then again, I suppose it was a Leica nuclear reactor, sorry, magnifier. tony_salce
Torben, You start off this thread asking people not throw stones yet you throw most of them. You are being quite hypocritcal. Furthermore your postings on this thread are consistent with Terry's description of you having been threatening and abusive to him. I think your thread should be dealt with accordingly by the forum moderator as soon as possible.
