asassoon
Hey guys so i had the amazing oppurtunity of photographing an ACC allstar game that was actually hosted at my school:) It was amazing. Iwas court side up close with famous players like David Noel from UNC,Sheldon Williams from Duke, Sean Dockery from Duke, and Justin Grayfrom Wake forest. However i did not have the right equipment for theoccassion which kinda sucked:( So i made due and tried to get the bestout of what i had. I used my nikon D50 and a 28-90 3.5-5.6 lens ISO1600 and i used my on camera flash but i put it 1.7 stops down to giveit a more natural look although you can still tell i used a flash. What do you do when you in situations like this? Here are some of the shots i got<imgsrc="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f272/asassoon/DSC_0117copy.jpg"border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"><imgsrc="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f272/asassoon/FinalACC96copy.jpg"border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"><imgsrc="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f272/asassoon/FinalACC155copy.jpg"border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"><imgsrc="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f272/asassoon/finalACC157copy.jpg"border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"><imgsrc="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f272/asassoon/FinalACC108copy.jpg"border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"><imgsrc="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f272/asassoon/Betterquality0174copy.jpg"border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"><imgsrc="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f272/asassoon/DSC_0171copy.jpg"border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"><imgsrc="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f272/asassoon/anothergoodshot2copy.jpg"border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting">
10tenphoto
Hey Aaron, It looks like you did the best you could with your equipment. If I were you, I would compare your pictures to those in SI, NBA.com, ESPN, sportsshooter.com, etc. and see what makes a great shot. Always work on improving your images. Also, I think most would answer your question with, "get an f2.8 lens and a faster focusing camera that handles low light situations better." I have the same problem. I'm using 10D's and a sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6 lens for little league. You've got to start somewhere. Once I generate enough profit, I'll move on to bigger and better things. This is an expensive industry, but my love of sports and the dream of doing this every day keep me moving forward. Best of luck to you!
