sandy_casuga
Can someone recommend a workflow for a wedding? Any help in this area is greatly appreciated.
djphoto
My Digital Workflow 1. Photograph in RAW mode. 2. Download cards to ACDSee, which sequences them by date and time of creation. Renumber the files. I like ACDSee because its file browser is easier to use than the one in Photoshop. You can also do this in BreezeBrowser, Bibble, or iView. 3. Burn two DVDs of the unedited RAW files and set them aside. 4. Open RAW files in Capture One. Edit, delete the losers, and apply corrections as needed to the keepers. This can be done very quickly by using the keyboard controls. The magnifying focus control makes it possible to eliminate immediately the ones that aren't sharp enough. When finished, move the contents of the trash file to another folder. They will be permanently deleted when everything is finished. 5. While editing in C1, frequently highlight the edited files and click on Workflow> Selected Capture Settings> Save. This saves the changes youメve made to the files. 6. Open the files in ACDSee and fine-tune the sequence by moving files around manually, make final deletions, and renumber the selects. Everything is still RAW at this point; nothing has been developed. 7. Go back to Capture One and process the selects to jpegs or tiffs. Capture One will process all the files in one batch. When finished, both RAW files and jpegs have the same numbers. This makes it much easier to go back to the RAW file later, if I need to. 8. Both RAW files and jpegs are copied to an external hard drive. 9. Both RAW files and jpegs are copied to DVDs. One set stays with me and one set goes to my assistant's house. jennifer_stone1
Dave, your workflow is almost exactly the same as mine! The only difference is I use ACDSee to delete the losers. For some reason C1 was always crashing when I tried to trash files, although that was several versions ago.
ellis_vener_photography
Before you go out and buy more software, purchase and read "The DAM Book" by Peter Krogh. This is of the three most important books about digital imaging I've read in the past 4-5 years (the others are "Real World Photoshop CS" (Blatner and Fraser) and "Adobe Photoshop CS2 for Photographers" (Martin Evening)and its the only one I've read cover to cover. "The DAM Book" sets out a structure for an extremely efficient workflow using Adobe Bridge, ACR, PsCS2 (all three programs are actually part of PsCS2) and iView Media Pro 3 for cataloging and archiving your images. Peter also runs a website where workflow, software and archiving issues are discussed, http://www.thedambook.com
david_schilling___chicago_
Sandy, Are you asking about "digital-processing" workflow or the general "capture" workflow of the wedding day itself?
susan_flewelling
Check out Kevin Kabota's workflow. My good friend (and photographer) lives by it! I think it is 100 bucks.
