Wondering value of Eastman view # 33a and Speed Graphic

Hello,

I have a friend who has asked me to sell a couple cameras for her.

Her husband use to take studio photography. I use primarily 35mm and

120. The first camera is a 5 x 7 Eastman View #33A. It has a ILEX

No. 3 Acme Synchro lens on it. The wood has a few scratches on it,

but other than that looks nice. The film box that was with it expired

around 1965 so I am guessing thats around the last time it was used.

All the shutter speeds work and turn freely. I opened the camera and

it seems smooth. It has some film holders with it. And a large case

with lighting and bulbs. I was unable to find any values on the

internet. KEH said they are not buying either of the cameras right

now, no market value for them. Told me to sell on ebay or here. The

second camera is a 4 x 5 speed graphic. (I guess really a medium

format camera?) Looks to be in real nice shape. Has a Ektar 127mm

lens. It has a regular back as well as a 120 back. Rangefinder on

side. Lens clear shutter works etc. It took me an hour to figure out

how to open it! I may offer to buy this camera for myself. I would

like to get a polaroid back for it. Same deal with film in box

expired around 72. I figure this camera is worth a couple hundred?

I am sorry if I offend anyone by asking values. Thanks in advance,

Keith

Keith, KEH gave you fair advice.

How much the Speed is worth depends on which it is and on whether it has a Graflok back. Visit www.graflex.org, spend some time looking around. After you've decided which it is, go look on eBay to see how much similar cameras have sold.

With a 127 lens, most likely is a 4x5, then 3x4, then 2x3. 3x4s are worth less than 2x3s than 4x5s, usually.

Hint: bundles hardly ever bring as much as the pieces in them sold one at a time. Sell the Speed Graphic and its roll holder separately.

Good luck, have fun,

Dan
