WFT-E1 wireless transmitter

Recommended Posts

Hi, I shoot hockey games and then sell the pictures of the kids in action. I shoot during the first period,

then upload and correct the pictures during the 2nd and 3rd period and by the end of the game, the

pictures are on a slideshow for the parents to see. I am currently working with the Canon 1ds. I am

thinking of upgrading to the 1ds Mark II soon and with that I'd get the WFT-E1. I think I could save a

bunch of time if my images are sent to my computer instantly. This would allow my to take more pictures

of the kids. I work with an assistant so he could correct the images while I shoot. Anyways my major

concern is that I work in an arena. My slideshow and mac computer is usually about 100 feet from the ice.

I am just curious how far this transmitter can go. I looked on the dpreview site and on the Canon site

but didn't find any information.

Thanks alot for your help guys!

"Two different models Canon will actually ship two different transmitters. The WFT-E1 is for regions outside of the US and Canada, and has a total of 13 channels in the 2.4Ghz band of 802.11b and 802.11g. To conform with wireless regulations in the US and Canada, the WFT-E1A has a total of 11 channels only, but is otherwise functionally identical to the WFT-E1."<br><br>

"Standard and extended range antennas The WFT-E1/WFT-E1A ships with Normal Antenna NA-E1, which is removable. The range of the device is specified to be 60 m/197 ft with the NA-E1 attached, subject to the usual caveats about walls and various forms of wireless voodoo impacting the maximum range. An optional accessory antenna, called Extended Range Antenna ERA-E1, boosts the working range to 150 m/492 ft."<br><br>
