lisa_marie_hall1
Hello! I'm just getting started with a tiny portrait studio in my garage and one of my Seniors wanted me to check out a FANTASTIC photographer named Tim Schooler. If you guys haven't seen his work (www.timschooler.com). Absolutely gorgeous. Anyhow, he uses some contemporary and vibrant backdrops that I haven't seen anywhere and I'm hoping to use something like that in my upcoming senior sessions (since the kids seem to love it). I get my backdrops from Backdrop Outlet and Denny's and didn't see anything similar. Does anyone know where to find them or do I need to hire an artist? :-) Thanks for any suggestions~Lisa Marie

buckry
Seems very likely those are custom made backdrops. He's got some very unique looks.
kevinconnery
Tim was quite helpful to me on another forum, and he'll probably answer soon.
In the meantime, check out

Backgrounds by David Maheu Elegantly hand-painted muslins. I seem to recall Tim mentioning them, though I don't know if he uses them.
Photo Showcase - Elegant backgrounds by Rick and Terry Larson (Beautiful work)
Sky High Background Most famous for their vivid tie-dyed muslins, they also make a variety of more conservative ones.
Realize that a lot of the impact comes from how those backdrops are used and lit. mark_hartman
I've been thinking of ordering something from this guy, http://www.michaelmaddox.net I've also gotten some neat effects just using a stainless steel refrigerator for a background. You can also gel a light to change up the effects of the stainless steel.
