tony tree
Hello Forum I have searched Ed Hamrick's site for information re downloading updates, It does state that it is not neccessary to uninstall the previous programme, it will be overwritten. But the old download stays in the Applications folder so now I have two Vuescan programmes on my computer. Should I just delete the previous installation. It seems logical to me but maybe I have not downloaded correctly. I am using a Mac 10.4.7 Any experience will be helpful to me. GertSnijders
Tony, you can use any of the 2 versions you have downloaded. You may or may not delete the oldest one, each version works "on its own". At least, that's how I do it. Success
william_john_smith
You must have two Vuescan folders? Just have one folder and when you put a new version in the folder it will over write the older one. It is a good idea to keep an older one separate just in case the new one is buggy, speaking from experience here.
tony tree
Thanks for the advice friends. I think I may have saved the new download to the desktop and not to the applications folder where the old version sits That is how the old version was not overwritten I have now deleted the old version but will bear in mind the tip re keeping it just case of new bugs. thanks again. ted_marcus1
It may well be a good idea to keep a known good older version around, since there's a distressing tendency for new versions to break things (particularly when it comes to infrared cleaning on my FS4000US scanner). But you don't need two different folders. Just keep the installation file for the previous version. You can reinstall it over a newer version. jon_noble
I thought Vuescan has no setup file. Its just an .exe file that requires no previous installation or is this with the new version?
