freddyv
I have tried to read all I can from this forum and others about Fluorescent lighting for a photo studio but I am hoping to get some up-to-date, personal feedback about this topic.
I have a studio with excellent built in Fluorescent lighting but of course, the standard Fluorescent bulbs offer very poor quality lighting for most purposes, often highlighting belemishes and making skin look red, blocky and just plain unhealthy.
I would like to know your experience and suggestions as to what type of Fluorescent bulbs I should use. Tell me what bulbs you use and what type of results can I expect. I have strobes and hot lights as well but I would like to be able to utilize this extra light source.
Fred Voetsch
Acclaim Images
streetlevel
If you must use them... I would just filter my camera (or if digital, shoot raw) to match the flourscent..then add filtration to either the strobes or hotlights to match them up too... Mostly you just don't want competeing white balances... You could probably find 5000k bulbs for the flourescents... which would help some... kelly_flanigan1
5500 Degree K high 90 CRI bulbs are available even at Walmart; and Home Depot. There are many different brands now; once well over a decade ago there were only a few. Here I once they were only availble by direct sales contacts; about 14 years ago; at the B&H price mentioned above. the going rate is about 1/4 or 1/3 that today. Maybe I am missing something here; i have used these since about 1991.
