brian_walton
I was reading last night about the Rolleiflex 4x4 Baby. Looked to be a 2/3 sized 2.8 and with an exposure meter as well. What a lovely design and carried out to perfection in the 1930's. Has anybody used one and how do you find the end results. Must be rather fun for somebody out there to have the big 2.8/ baby 2.8 and Minox 2.8 all in their collection. Brian
paul_neuthaler
Not sure it had a meter (don't think so) -- 1:3.5 & uses 127 film, I think. Not easy to get.
richard_laepple
There are different versions. The first Baby (1931...) came with a 2.8 or 3.5 Tessar and a top shutter speed of 1/300s. The 1938 version came with 2.8 Tessar and 1/500s and bay I filter ring (first version took push-on filters). The post war Baby (1957-1962) came with a 3.5 Xenar lens, most in grey, the high serial ## in black. I owned a post war Baby in black, the results were just great. The problem is the 127 film they need, only some are available. All Babies came without built-in meter, but Rollei produced are hood-meter-attachement for bay I called Rolleilux which can be used on the later Babies. Aoresteen
See my pages on the Baby Rollei: http://www.oresteen.com/ROLLEI4X4.htm http://www.oresteen.com/ROLLEI4X4_use.htm I love the 4x4 format! I only shoot B&W with it now (I sold off my last 20 rolls of E6 127 film). Film is available but you have to look for it.
emile_de_leon9
If you want a 4x4 Rollie (3.5 Xenar) I have a grey one in great shape for sale. I bought it a couple of years ago and had Marflex do a complete CLA on it (expensive) but ended up never using it. It comes with an unopened brick of B&W film slightly outdated now. Also comes with a film tank and spool. If anyone is interested, contact me soon as I have been considering putting it up on Ebay. Emile/www.deleon-ulf.com. kelly_flanigan1
The 4x4 in 1969 was 99 dollars new from Olden Camera, with warranty, cool for super slides. They were slow movers then, a glut of new old stock!
