hey surf shooters! backup gear ideas? help!

hi all,

 

I'll be doing a project in august shooting a surf trip in west africa. Primary in water gear will be a canon

1dmk2n. The housing is a loaner. can't rememer the maker, possibly del mar.

 

anyway.... We'll be traveling up the coast from Ghana to Cape Verde and so I need to travel as light as

possible. I'll already be dragging a backup dslr and some long glass but I wanted to bring a backup in

water setup and I was thinking of one of those little digicams with a housing. something I can keep

tucked away somewhere in case we get jacked also.

 

Seems like there's a bunch of cheapish housing options (under $500).

 

also be nice to have something small to have when I'm surfing.

 

anyone have any suggestions or advice?

 

maybe one of the canon digicams like a A or S ones?
