manel_soria
Hi, I (as many other folks here) like to shot insects, snails and smalllizards and to share these images with the community. Where do you think that such images should be posted to receive aserious critique ? The "Nature" section is too wide, covering from landscapes to lions, and while "Macro" is appropiate, most people posting comments are notfamiliar with shoting small fast moving things so the critiquesreceived are not allways useful. Please understand that I'm not complaining about low/high ratings. Is it a good idea to suggest the creation of a "Insects and similar"cathegory ? Thanks Manel
mattvardy
- <i>"Macro" is appropriate, <b>most people posting comments are not familiar with shooting small fast moving things</b> so the critiques received are not always useful.</i> -<p> No matter how specific a category becomes, the knowledge and understanding of viewers won't magically improve... There is no guarantee who will view your image - what level of experience or appreciation they might have for your style of work or the selected category, there's no telling when or where your image will be viewed (in what particular forum/feature, with or without categorisation: TRP, rate recent, etc), and I would imagine only a limited number of people meticulously photograph small or fast moving things. So I think you were right, the "macro" category would suffice for the majority of shots you describe...
