My observation is also based on psychology. We are all tourists in a general sense. Besides the personal snapshot, we want to take pictures of something we usually don't see.

Nonsense. When I'm living in Nashville, the vast majority of my shots are taken in my neighborhood or in regular hangouts around town. When I'm living in Korea, I shoot what's around me every day. Look at the images of most active street/documentary photographers and you'll see that much of their photography is focused on what surrounds them every day.

If you have a narrow view of what's interesting, fine--you certainly have every right to decide what you like. But don't attribute that limited view to some fundamental aspect of human psychology.

I started this thread only for fun before it was hijacked by serious street photography gurus and became a show of isolated boring faces full of beautiful natural and artificial (and photoshop) lights. I do like those photos, but not on a holiday of happiness.

IMHO, Larry and Marc's photos are more appropriate and I enjoy them a lot, although nobody would put them in a gallery.

Post something happy. Life is dark enough.
