Mark, I never used Leicas and currently use Contax and thier glass

and really like pictures that I get. Also I went to your portfolio

and simply loved B&W pictures you have there (wedding ones).

I already in love with Leica glass which I never used, but I guess

I'm convinced, but Leica bodies simply suck. I'm totally sure that if not for the glass, you would never have bought leica body. It indeed built super, all metal parts, but the weight and 'features'...I was holding leica with 35mm lens at B&H store here in NYC - this combination is very

compact lens looks like a diamond, but it would tear down your whole shirt if you'd put it

into thy pocket.

My question is that

in your portfolio there are some color fotos and I also saw some

color photos of other members using Leica, and these color fotos

look like they were taken with plastic disposable cameras.

Can't you work with color guys, which in many situations is more tricky

then with B&W. B&W photos with Leicas look lovely, but look at your

color ones... is it maybe the film you're using or maybe Leica glass

is magical for B&W and something happens when you shoot color.

Also, I noticed that with color, especially consumer films if you are

even slightly off with metering the grain becomes slightly more visible...

Again i'm not here to depress anybody or put down Leica or other

systems' users, I'm just trying to understand what happened to

the color photos and Leicas.

Peosonally I'm using Contax Aria body and very often shoot 1/8 and

1/15 seconds and get quite good results, unless people are moving or I'm jumping.

Also, I'm quite practical person...I like my contax body; I don't like

that it doesn't have mirror lockup for example. I totally think that

if contax is not supporting their T old mount lenses and producing

some quality digital/other bodies for them in the nearest future there are simply f-d (sorry for bad words).

I guess I put too many thoughts here, but accept Leica guys and girls

that using super cool Leica lenses almost all of you are using

very cool lens hoods on each of them to illiminate reflections and other majority of people by the way including this naughty guy who is

writing this quite often don't use them.

So again what's the deal with Leica and color photos? somebody please

get angry?!

When I first joined this forum as a newbie Leica-owner, I expected immediately to notice a marked difference in my negatives on the light-box, because that's what I'd been led to expect.

I've since learned that it's a numbers game. My M6 can still produce crap negatives, but in the long run I get a far higher proportion of good negs from the M6 than from any of my other cameras. Is it the glass, the whole package, or the operating style that is forced on me? I don't know, perhaps all three. Strangely, I don't expect it, because after 2 years I still find the M quite awkward to use and burdensome heavy. So it's a love/hate relationship for me.

Given the sheer volume of photos that Marc takes, and the range of gear he has got through, he obviously has a vast body of evidence on which to base his impression of what M Leicas do for him. Maybe he imagines it, out of some irrational attachment to Leica Ms. But I'm inclined to listen, because he can substantiate his view, and because even my limited experience tends to support it.

As a scientist, I also sympathise with the sceptical de-bunkers led by Al, but guys, Marc's post is not the burbling of a newbie Leica fondler fed on Leica hype and folklore. It's posted by a guy whose enthusiasm is apparently undiminished by years of using competing products.

Z, was upset, and that night the 6' pink rabbit came. Luckily, he had just finished he's 40 second thrash around (used to be 20 seconds but he read this book....) with his new super zoom.

Z, did not really like the 6' pink rabbit, and did not want to be it's friend. It had strange looking beady eyes, and big white sharp teeth....and made him do things.

It whispered in his ear and once again Z stripped and donned his shadow raincoat. Another busy night on the leica forum.

It was a hard and lonely life, but someone had to do it.

Ha! This is so eerie! Taking 20 minutes (thought I wanted those back; maybe not anymore) to read one of the most amusing Leica threads that you thought was almost 2 years old and all but forgotten... and then finding that some of the main culprits have re-posted on it the day that you're looking at it, almost 2 years later.

You folks never cease to amaze! And I never thought I liked soap operas. Congratulations; definitely the most bizarre Leica thread I've ever read.

Personally anal, compulsive and predictable AZ (the artist formally known as Bailey Seals ).

Sooooooo.... lets see if we can perpetuate this to, hmmm, say... winter 2007....

Gotta keep some Leica content to do that ... I STILL LIKE MY LEICA Ms. The lenses are still

the best I've shot with.

Last word ; -)

i'm a little late on this one and have no photos posted myself, but wihout applying any technical analysis, having no more than an amateur's eye, and ignoring the type of equipment used for the photo, the "dancing in the window" shot is stunning. whether it was luck or skill or, more likely, a combination of the two that produced such a perfect record of that memorable moment, i must congratulate you on your art. as photo.net continues to move, in my opinion, to a dichotomy of stunning nature photos and nude-for-shock-rather-than-beauty's-sake photos, it's nice to see that someone can still create an image that celebrates humanity.

thanks for that.
