a.d. steward
ACDSee vs. PS Elements 3.0? Which is "better" in your opinion and why? Please, I have not used either and would greatly appreciate any information and guidance the generous and learned members of Photo.net could give, thank you. johnclinch
image editor or album For image editing I use picture window pro, which I prefer to ACD and elements 2 or if you only need 8 bit editing, the gimp which is free
ahaohio
On the previous release of elements I used not ACDSee but Picasa as a way to organize my image files. Not a bad pick for its prize. When I upgraded to 3.0 however I have found that the integrated environment with the image/browser/finder fully integrated with the editor makes it very easy for me to work with the ever increasing number of images that I have. I like: That it is easy to create and maintain a tree-structure of categories and tags. This way I can filter out until the number of images on the display is manageable. I can also search on words in image tagline for specific images. I also like the fact that I can now work with Raw files and that there is a number of improvements to the editor. I really like working with an integrated environment rather than jumping between products. The only thing I do not really love is that the incremental backup apparently does not work directly to removable media but has to land on a hard drive. Still there is a pretty good backup feature built into the product and any backup is better than none.
