What online printing services offers the widest gamut for their printer-paper

combination.

I color corrected some of my images in PSCS2. When I soft proofed the images

using Adorama's profiles, some of the reds are getting clipped even though the

Red Histogram in PS isn't clipped.

I apologize if my question is not technically correct but what I am

essentially looking for is some online printing lab service that can deliver

prints with high levels of saturation.

Thanks,

Venkat

Doggone that sRGB anyway!

The best service might be one that would agree to give you the printing profile they use in their printer and paper. This way you can at least get some inkling of what colors will get clipped and shifted by using CS2's "View->Proof Setup" screen. *Theoretically* you can then modify your image to avoid such clipping, or at least minimize the surprises.

If West Coast Imaging and Walmart both print to the same type of Fuji Crystal Archive paper, then both labs offer the same gamut range capability.

West Coast might have the option of handling AdobeRGB based files, which will typically result in better high saturation images provided you are working in AdobeRGB, but the gamut range is ultimatley limited by the media you are printing to. Avoid printing to Kodak based Endura papers if gamut range is your goal because they are weaker than Fuji in this dept.

Theoretically, the latest Epson K3 inks can beat the Fuji Papers in terms of gamut range on glossy media, and West Coast does have that option. My eyes tell me it's especially true with blues/cyan, but I'm not convinced as of yet with red/magenta. Worth a try though.

Only on paper... err, in theory. Some labs assume that your files are in sRGB. If you don't give 'em what they want, your files get double profiled. Of course, you can go elsewhere, but if the price is right some people can't resist.

West Coast Imagings Epson 9800 prints have a noticeably wider red/magenta gamut than Fuji paper, at least for luster paper. I expect the same for other paper types, but Ive only tested with luster paper.

WCI is an excellent lab. I recommend them highly.
