mskovacs
Anyone else here have one of these Walz Envoy 35 cameras? Seems like a high end model as far as Japanese fixed lens rangefinders go with a nice viewfinder, smooth advance and full 1-1/500 Copal shutter. If you look on the top plate, you'll see the S Kominar is a Sonnar 7/3 copy. Haven't tried it with film yet. Hot off the CLA backlog.<div></div>

mark_b4
I have one. It worked great for about a year and then without warning the shutter suddenly broke. I was very sad the day that happened. Great lens. A very nice camera. .
Mike Gammill
I remember seeing these advertised in some of my Dad's back issues of Popular Photography. From what I remember they were a good buy since you could get a fast lens, rangefinder, and a good range of shutter speeds for well under $100. Most of the bigger names only offered f2.8 models at similar prices. Good find.
david_f._stein
Interesting. Looks a lot like the Petri RFs.
dean_williams
THAT, is one pretty camera, Mike. Love to see some photos when you get them.

daniel_iggers
MUCH nicer looking than a Petri RF, if you ask me. There seems IMHO to be something about a lot of the old Petri's that is cheesy looking.
mskovacs
I should note that the leatherette is a replacement from camera leather. The stuff that was on there disintegrated in the process of getting the focusing mount off for relubrication. The original is a course pebble pattern, kind of a hard, slippery synthetic material. Mark did the shutter simply cease to fire? There was a small adjustment required to the release linkage on both of the Walz's that I serviced to get the shutter to trip again. nicolas_douez
Mike you've got a beautiful wooden floating floor, it's always a pleasure to see its fabulous texture on your cameras pics ! Yep I know that's nothing to do with classic cameras but it must be said ! :)=
frank_scheitrowsky1
It's pretty cool to have a lens block diagram on the top deck. They were obviously proud of their lens.
CosteaM
Mike, I have a Walz (no envoy) made in Japan, I think it has the same kominar lens. Couldn't find much info on the net about this camera. Mine has a stuck shutter, I managed to clean the copal, that is working however the coupling from the copal inside the camera is somehow disconnected. Shutter release won't go down when pressed. Right now I parked this one, I'm not ready for it. When were they made. cheers
mskovacs
Mihai: If you remove the top plate, the shutter linkage has a double sided nut that allows you to adjust the release travel. Try fooling around with that as sometimes the nut works loose and the shutter linkage gets stuck with no travel. A dab of nail polish or thread lock will hold it in place once its working properly. mskovacs
Nicolas - actually its a cheap, pine table from Ikea. Home of all my camera repair work except when I need to be close to the computer.
david_aguilar2
Mike - I have one of these fine cameras as well - was my first real camera - haven't shot with it in ages, but I just take it out to look at it sometimes. I was a wonderful way to learn!
