blowingsky
I believe testing the M8 in public is a violation of the NDA. The first issues are collector's items and must be used without removing from the box. The beta tester who never saw one, in fact, was testing it standardly. "Yup." joseph_wisniewski
Bob - "I presume that the user's emotional state isn't covered under nondisclosure...." It probably is. Most of the nondisclosure agreements I've signed mention that you're not to express opinions about the product in public.
tommy_baker
was it in black paint finish. and did it have the engraved leica script on the top plate? and ah what was the lens, 24/1.4 asph?
john_shriver
No idea what lenses he was using, but they certainly weren't extreme wide angles. No red dot. But a bold M8.
Rob F.
Oh. No red dot? $5,000 and no red dot? Can you get a red dot if you order it a la carte?
ian_collins1
Any thoughts on whether the advent of the digital M will mean that a mere mortal such as myself can afford an older Leica M? I'd love to get my hands on an M6 for a bit less than current asking price. 2nd hand Canon / Nikon Film SLR's are available for peanuts these days. uk
I hear that it Bluetooth enabled. That'll be handy for some, I presume. :-)
blowingsky
Hell, they might as well put a cell phone in it. Cell phones have cameras these days, so why not? And why not let Ipod take up a little of the camera real estate as well, though it might induce strokes in Wetzlar.
terry_rory
I expect a Sony Ericsson K750i will run rings around it.... http://www.flickr.com/photos/shelbob/65848912/
uk
Great idea Peter, iPod enabled. Could use the memory slots in the Motor M base to store suggested poses. That would take Leica programme mode further than man has been before. Need a suggestion for a B&G at the altar pose and up pops a Jeff Ascough special, 30% greyed out. Just move till the figures line up and press the shutter. In fact why bother .... when it's lined up, the computer can press the shutter. Help tendonitis suffers as well as the artistically barren. blowingsky
Gary, You are onto something big. The camera could also "sample" the models / subjects and put them into any of a thousand scenes via a Photoshop for M8 Elite Edition. All done in camera...with music. Weddings could come standard with: Can't Always Get What You Want, White Wedding, If I Fall Behind or Pacabel Canon in D.
blowingsky
Trevor, I looked at the Sony Ericsson K750i link...wow.
michael_a._shapiro
Ian, I've got an M6 black classic with original box. If you're interested, contact me off list-michael@photonphotos.com. Regarding prices on used slr's-no cheap prices on manuals like FM2, FM3-they're getting spendy. Michael
anthony_brookes5
Trevor - I hope the Sony batteries are not the same rechargeables they sell to Dell computers. My Sony HI Fi gear has been very unreliable. I replaced it with JVC. My son has a Vaio laptop which seems ok after 3 months.
