dennis_couvillion
Denis: I like the way, in the right side of the photo, there is a pane of glass in which you can read the lettering, "Junior", although the image is reversed... and the man in the pane of glass is interesting too. BTW, how long have you misspelled your name? ;>) Dennis
ray .
Dennis, I think this is one of the nicest photos I've seen you post recently. Beautifully composed, looks like it might make a nice print. Avoids cliches, and it's interesting to see you do something rather straight without a real hook to it, but having a nice mood. dennis_couvillion
Thanks, Ray. I'm reorganizing some older negatives and came across a few I liked... Dennis

denis_pleic
Wow... pretty. Leica shot?
I'm ashamed to admit - no... Don't have lens that wide for Leica.
Besides, it was taken before I even owned a Leica...
It was Nikkor 24/2.8
Denis
dennis_couvillion
"It was Nikkor 24/2.8" Denis, for many years that was my standard lens... it was a manual focus AI Nikkor. Much later I acquired the auto focus version of it and while that was a good lens its images were not as crisp and contrasty as the older model. I found the same to be true for the Nikkor 35mm f2 models as well. It all adds to the "conventional wisdom" that they don't make'em like they used to. ;>) Cheers, Dennis
jack_lo_..._t_o
Posted yesterday on another thread. Dennis Couvillion of New Orleans, I can't believe you are not aware that it is the English spelling of your name, with 2 ns, that is "incorrect". Come up to Montreal some time, you can be a "boulevardier" on la Rue St. Denis.

dennis_couvillion
John: LOL... thanks. I understand that in Canada my last name is spelled Quevian (or something like that). Do you know any? Dennis

jack_lo_..._t_o
Dennis. I can't tell if you're pulling my leg or not. Two French Canadian friends went to La. about 10 years ago and they were able to find Cajun speakers, so I think you are. There are two Couvillions in the T.O. phonebook so I imagine Montreal would have some.
dominic_.
Quevian

it's pronounced close to that
dennis_couvillion
John: Seriously... it was originally spelled Quevian (or something like that) before our ancestors came from Nova Scotia to Louisiana (the French Acadians who became the Louisiana Cajuns). I understand that there are still Quevians in France and Canada. My parents and older relatives all spoke French... I'm still working on English. ;>) A tout a l'heure... jack_lo_..._t_o
I think you may be confusing pronunciation (coo-vee-YON)with spelling. I think I'm acquainted with French-Canadian surnames, and Quevian doesn't ring any bells. There is a foolproof test however. Assign a person or persons to throw hockey pucks at you from all angles for about 60 minutes. If thepercentage that you catch or block is .950 or better, you have some Quebec blood in you{:-)>
jonathan_reynolds
John, do you mean 0.95% or 95%?
