ross_chambers
Can anyone help with information regarding the filter size for the Ultron 1:2 / 50 lens mounted on the Voigtlander Prominent 1? My dealer and I spent time carefully measuring, and a generic lenscap fits, both of which indicate 46mm. So I ordered a 46 mm Hoya filter which sits on the filter ring, but refuses to screw in. Is this another quirky Voigtlander accessory design such that only the Voigtlander made filters fit? many thanks - Ross
frank granovski
This is just a guess but I had a similar problem once with trying to screw a Leica (M) 43mm UV onto "industry standard threads" of my non-Leica camera (which had a fixed Leica lens on it). It wouldn't screw on because the Leica filter's threads had a different pitch than the threads on the camera. So I went with a Heliopan instead. furcafe
I believe the Ultron & Nokton have 45mm filter threads, but have never seen 45mm screw-in filters from Voigtlander (or anyone else). The "official" Voigtlander filters & accessories I have are all 47mm slip-ons.
mike_elek
Some camera makers used those odd-ball thread pitches. So even if the millimeter is correct, it still won't screw in. Someone on the Leica board was saying the 40mm Summicron for the CL/CLE uses a 39mm thread but a different pitch. So the filters that normally fit most Leica lenses won't thread onto this particular lens. I don't know if this is the case here.
david_goldfarb
All my classic Voigtlander filters are slip-on filters. The threads are probably for something like the retaining ring that holds the front element of the lens in place.
summitar
I have screw on filters and lens hoods for my Prominent, but am not sure of the size. I am pretty sure that they fit all the Prominent lenses, 50mm Ultron and Nocton, plus 35 mm and 100 mm. Not easy to come by.
ross_chambers
Many thanks for the help. The Voigtlander lens hood for this camera is marked 310/47 which must be the outside diameter; the push on filter concept correlates with that; the Voigtlander quirkiness comes through yet again: I'm still amused or bemused by the way the 'backward' loading of the film into the Vitessa flips the frames around, compared to most (or is it all?) other cameras which advance left to right, not the other way round. At least I can always positively identify negs shot on the Vitessa. thanks - Ross
