keiffer
I'm going to be using my Canon 300D to take pictures of clothing andjewelry for an online store. Will I lose quality if I use a lower filesize? I would like to get more pictures per CF card, and I guess batchprocessing smaller file sizes would go quite a bit faster. Doesanybody have an opinion on this? Thanks, John
johnlund
<i>"Will I lose quality if I use a lower file size?"</i><br/><br/>Yes, either by fewer pixels or greater [lossy] compression, but the former often won't matter in terms of publishing web-sized images. Experiment a little with sizes and camera parameters to find a set that fits your desire for a web-only workflow. In terms of processing speed, I'd look more toward streamlining your workflow, making actions, and using batch processes than starting with smaller file sizes. lotsawa
Yes, try it out! I don't think there is a need to shoot with highest resolution unless you later decide that want to print the images. But just try it, its easy to shot with different resolution and compression rate, adjust the different images in PS (or whatever you use) to their final resolution / compression and compare the results. I would guess that you won't notice any difference wether you started with a high or low resolution shot. Of course, if you shoot with highest resolution, you'll have more possibilties to crop the image, if that's necessary.
