hi all,

not sure if i'm posting in the right area, but thought i'd try.

i'm an absolute beginner... just picked up a canon digital rebel

with the 18-55mm lense, and also picked up a 75-300mm lense.

literally... just days ago. was just at the irl race at chicagoland

speedway learning how to use it, and captured shots of buddy rice

flipping over. cannot believe it !

as an absolute beginner... is there a market for this type of

photography, and how would i get connected into it ?

thanks much in advance... and appreciate any advise.

sounds like you're interested in sports photography? well, i'm sorry to break the

news to you but getting into any photography business is very hard. it takes time,

money, and talent to become successful. one great image is not going to get you

anywhere. you might be able to sell it to a local paper like stated in the previous post

but other than that, good luck. but for starters if you could get 100 more and if you

could get together 20 great images out of the 100 than you're head the right

direction.

Hey, Dannny, lay off the kid. What are you trying to do, crush his dreams? Don't listen to him. Sure, photography is expensive to get into, but its not as imposible as he makes it sound. It might take you a while to get good enough, but the more you shoot, the better your gunna get. The best tip that I can give to a true beginer is to just shoot as much as you can. Any thing will work. Pee-wee Football, High school dances, granny, or you pet iguana. The more types of subjects you shoot the more you will become familiar with the basics of photography. As far as youre equipment is conserned, (and "how expensive photography is") don't worry about it right now. As a begginer you will be able to take the same quality of photographs with you Rebel D and a kit lens as you could with a Mark II and a L series. And if you are really looking to make a couple bucks on photography, one of the best ways as a beginer is to go to a High School football game and get some action shots and then sell them to the proud parents or girlfriends of the players. However stick to freshman or JV games, they are usually during daylight hours and easier to get onto the sidelines. Also, listen to advice. No matter who is giving it, you might have something to learn. If you see another photographer at an event your shooting, go and talk to him. And take every opertunity to show people you photographs. Even if they don't know the first thing about photography they might have some good input. Really, just keep shooting.
