M6 "Classic?"

Recommended Posts

OK, What set me off was someone talking about their "M6 classic."

I guess I am a crusty old curmugeon after all. You guys were the first to spot it though!

The M6 is an updated M4, which is an updated M3. So, how can it be a classic? That beats the hell out of me.

I mean if they want to talk about Coca Cola "Classic," then they had better put the COKE back in it, then it would be the damn Coca Cola Classic! You betcha!

As for the guys who think I like Bush or hate the M6, well, they just misunderstood my post. For the record, Bush is the biggest natural disaster to ever hit the United States, it will take decades to recover from Hurricane Bush. They got over Hitler and the Japanese in a decade or two, Bush will take longer.

I happen to love the M6.

I just hate all the crap associated with Leica. Innovation should be the first priority of the company, not some candy-assed marketing crap. Between us here on the forum we could come up with a million ways to improve their cameras.

Face it guys, the M6 is an M3 with some electronics. Leica has hit an evolutionary dead-end.

I propose another thread. let's create our own evolutionary tree with where the Leica really should be in 2004. Not a goddam candy stripe a a la cart classic. It could be something really cool, if they stuck to innovation, instead of being a bloody luxury item.

I like to think I'm the one who came up with 'M6 Classic'. In april 1998 I thought it would be a nice way to distinguish between the types of M6, the arrival of the non-TTL 0.85 made it seem appropriate to do so. My proposition wasn't met with a warm welcome in the LUG. Now it is a frequently used adjective. Go figure...

Who was it wrote that great song, probably back in the 80s? One for Claude, I

think:<p>

"I'm gonna write a classic - gonna write it in an attic. Baby I'm an addict - an

addict for your love."<p>

Yes, they don't write 'em like that any more. Thank god.
