boulderjoe
Let me just say this first, I'm not up on my flash knowledge. But I am new to nikon and love my FA. So... I have a Nikon FA and also a metz 34 CS2 which I am thinking using together. What in camera settings would I need for this? Or should I skip it and use TTL of say the metz AF3 or a nikon flash. If so what flash do you like? Thanks for any help. -Joe
christopher_engeler
This is a cute little flash. I gather from the www.metz.de website that this is an automatic flash without TTL automation or dedication for any particular camera. It has its own built-in sensor. Ont the other hand, The 34-CS2 can be used as a wireless slave flash to a camera-mounted Metz TTL flash.
david_stoerman
I have 2 suggestions, both of which can take advantage of the TTL capabilities in your FA: Nikon SB16 - Large full featured flash (A,M and TTL modes), high guide number, tilt and zoom flash head. Nikon SB23 - Small, compact, TTL or M only, medium-low guide number. The SB23 is great as a fill-in walk-around flash, while the SB16 is a lot more powerful, but also a lot larger. Both of them can be found at a reasonable price. For what its worth, all of the newer flashes (SB26,SB28 etc) can be used on your camera as well. I love my FA and I use both flashes (SB23 and SB16) on the camera for different shooting purposes. -Dave
ebogaerts
Anything TTL will work. I personally used an SB-15 with my FA and really got a lot of use out of it. If you have or you think you may be upgrading to an autofocus camera, then I would think you would benefit from one of the SB series that has the more advanced features (zoom head, infrared focusing aid, ect). Otherwise, I think anything beyond an SB-15 or 16 is kind of "overkill" with an FA.
michael_benveniste
On my FA, I've used a Cullman CX 35 (with SCA 343 module) for years. Any Nikon TTL flash that you can mount on the hot shoe will work, but the FA is incapable of using any advanced features beyond basic TTL.
