d_hosford
Is it possible to prevent the downloading, copying and/or printing of images from a DVD slideshow? I know about copyright laws - I want to know if there is a way to send a DVD slideshow to a client for viewing while at the same time preventing them from making prints ect. zapped
If they can see it on the screen, they can always take a screenshot.
joshwand
DVD resolution isn't really high enough to make prints-- it's only about 700 or so pixels across. I wouldn't worry about them making prints for reproduction. Besides, if they have the level of technical sophistication AND the desire to make prints from DVD screengrabs, then you have much more to worry about than pixellated 4x6s from screengrabs. frank_skomial
Depends how you made the DVD. Most DVD slideshow making software provide option to include original picture files, in their full quality, during the DVD creation process. I always check this feature ON to include original files, and that serves as a back up for printing purpose. If you unchecked the inclusion of the original files, then, as already stated above, very low quality pictures will be always available, and you cannot prevent from duplicating them. You could "watermark" your pictures, if copy protection is more important to you. However, there are ways to remove watermark as well, but it may be more tedious, and will require some expertise. jean deaux
Why would you deal with a client you don't trust? Up until quite recently, most photographers sent their clients original slides or high quality dupes for review. Nowadays, they just send them low-res digital files via email or send them a link where they can view samples. Oh yeah, and others send them low-res files on a CD or DVD. As already mentioned, they won't be able to make nice prints from your DVD (maybe 4x6s, but that's about it).
Jerry_
"As already mentioned, they won't be able to make nice prints from your DVD (maybe 4x6s, but that's about it)." A semi-good 4x6 on a Fuji Frontier scanner can grow into a fair 8x10 (some loss to cropping.....) but the addition of "Copyright © 2004, Your Name" on the image will make it more a chore than a 'free' copy of the print is worth.
