Photos from latest wedding

Hi everyone! It's been awhile since I've posted in here, but I

wanted to say Hey and post some images from my last wedding. Overall

the wedding was a success technically speaking. My exposures were

overall more consistent, with fewer underexposed images. Now that I

handheld with flash at 1/30th I realize that I am getting too much

ambient exposure. Oh well, you live, shoot and learn. The indoor

conditions, especially during the ceremony, were not very desirable.

I tried to make do with what I had. The outdoor conditions were

excellent.

I am posting one image in particular which I think will be one of my

top 10 best images. I took the photo (below) with a FM2 that I

recently purchased, and a 20mm Nikkor lens. I was excited about what

I was seeing through the lens, and even more pleased when this image

came back! I am also posting a link to a few sample images from this

wedding. Any comments, criticisms, suggestions is much appreciated.

Steve,

Nice image, I like it in sepia tone. It gives the image a timeless look!

Are you tilting the camera when this picture was taken or the image was tilted when it was processed and printed?

Do you tilt your camera to the left (counter-clockwise) to get the above image? How much of a tilt is that, 30 degrees?

Sometimes I find tilted images more powerful than non-tilted ones. Thanks.

I like it. Sepia is a nice touch and camera angle goes well with the leaning back. Only technical criticism is the groom face is a little dark in comparison to the bride's face (fill flash?). I've notice photographers especially on these boards tend to be harsh with their criticism. I'm sure the client would be over joyed with this shot. Thx for sharing.

Excellent shot. Couples always tell me that they like the "45 degree angle" rather than everything horizontal or vertical.

I agree that some of the B&Ws in the link are a tad contrasty. But, the only thing that matters in wedding photography is whether or not the client likes their photos.

Thank you Steve Levine, and others! Steve, hearing such a wonderful comment from you means a lot! I'm glad you liked the image so well.

Hoang, the camera was tilted clockwise at roughly 30 degrees.

I ran this, and all over BW images through Fred Miranda's BW Workflow Pro. I used the BW Very High Contrast setting, and Level 4 dynamic range. So the contrast which you all speak of is the effect I was going for. In looking over them again, I can see how the lack of detail in First Dance, and Groom Says Vows is not pleasant. Honestly I didn't pay too much attention when adjusting curves and levels for those images. I checked against my original scans, and while the fill flash in some is a bit overdone, the whites and blacks hold details. Not to debate this point, but if anyone cares I can show you my original scan.
