Leica M6 Battery?

Recommended Posts

I'm at work at the moment and had a free moment to order myself a new

battery for my m6 classic. Because I'm fairly new to this camera

(which I love) I cannot recall which battery it takes. Can someone

provide me with a link or a battery number so I can order a few for

backup?

Also, there any reccomended retailer for these?

Thanks!

Jonathon,

BTW, you can greatly prolong the life of your (new) batteries by keeping the shutter speed

dial on B while it's in the bag. If the shutter is slightly depressed by something (happens

easily while stored in a camera bag and took me about two sets of batteries to catch on)

the batteries will drain in a matter of a day or two.

The main reason for the batteries of an M6/MP to go is inadvertedtly leaving the shutter cocked and the speed dial off B, then dropping the camera in the bag. In light of this, I have found that buying the more expensive N3 lithium 3V battery is overkill. I use a pair of commonly available LR44 or SR44 alkaline or silver batteries and always, read always, carry a spare couple in my camera bag. Every so often I goof and leave the cameras in "meter on" mode and the batts go off in a breeze. Having the spares usually beats sunny-16, specially in interiors.
