Does anyone make PC cords that work????

I have been having terrible luck with PC cords that don't work

properly. I'm willing to pay a reasonable amount for a decent cord

with a good lug that I don't have to tape together or hold tight in

my hand to be sure they will fire my flashes.

I'm currently using a home made setup based on a Canon 577G and 533G

flashes setup just litke they were monolites with 30" umbrellas not

real big not the best but I have a very small area for my work and I

can get f8 out of them with 100ASA film. I figured I already had

this equipment and by using it I can learn more about technics and

then when I have out grown then I will know better what my needs are

before dropping a grand on a decent small studio setup.

BUT the big monkey wrench in the whole deal is my PC cords so before

I buy more junk I thought I would ask if there is a certin brand

worth buying or should I just solder the damn things together. I

only have three joints 1) the camera body 2) the male to male cord 3)

the main flash (second and hair/background flash are optical slaved)

So it ain't like I have a big mess. I have used a small flash on

camera to trigger but I perfer not having a flash directly one the

camera.

So any help?<div>008ue9-18863984.jpg.454c4ae1d302209170426ae343f2fd39.jpg</div>

You don't say which flash you are trying to get a sync cord for. You did say a male to male, but is that PC male to PC male or household male to PC male? You also don't say how long it needs to be.

Paramount makes very sturdy sync cords. You can look to see if one of their cords will do the job by looking at B&H's website. Best I can offer without specific info.

I had the same trouble Mark, and ended up spending a fortune on sync cable that would last a few session, then if I accidentaly rode over it witht he camera stand, or pulled it out wrong it would become intermitant. I spent a small fortune over the past few years and was dead against using infra red or radio triggers becuase of the high prices until I found one imported locally here in Australia for only $200 AUD. It attaches to the hotshoe on the Minolta (with an adaptor) and on the Mamiya with a PC cable (I never had problems with the mechanical PC sync with cables on the Mamiya) and have not had a problem since. I still use cables, but these are only for extension for the slave cells, and are short and can seem not to have the problems of the PC sync cables on cameras.
