diann_hokanson
I'm an artist not a photographer.. let me rephrase. I am a Portrait painter and need reference tools for fast moving sports. While I can spend $50 on a brush, thousands on a long range fast lens is not what I would have enough use for. Is there one that would work that I could look for used? This is a one time or seldom thing and happens to be needed soon. D
david_eppstein
If it's a one time thing, why not just rent a long range fast lens?
f1-fanatic
Hi Diann, I am not sure where you live but in most major cities you should be able to rent rather than purchase lenses that might suit your needs. -NP
fred_sickler
Maybe the best place to start is to visit Calumet Photographic at http://www.calumetphoto.com and see if you're near one of their locations.
francois_gauthier
It depends on what sport and what camera system you already have. For most amateur sports, you can be close enough for a low cost 135 F2.8. For professionnal events, you will need at least a 200mm (F3.5 or 4.0). For high speed from some distance, the 300mm F2.8 on a monopod is great but this one you should rent because it really is expensive.
