ciro_carpanzano
Who do you take your Kodachrome rolls for processing? I had no luck with local labs. Does Kodak even process Kodachrome in the US anymore? I'm at wits end here...TIA.

steve_swinehart
Well let's see. If you took the time to use the search function you'd find out this question has been asked at least once a month for the past 2 years. The answer is: Dwayne's in Kansas City; take it WalMart & make sure they mark it K-14; and go find a Qualex processor. WalMart & Qualex will ship it to Dwayne's. IMAO, if this is all it takes to get you at "wits end" you didn't have very far to go...
john_shriver
Why would Kodak sell film that couldn't be processed? It's good that Dwayne's does it now, since Kodak Fair Lawn employees didn't seem to be motivated to do a very good job. (They're unemployed now.) phil_v.
On this subject, while going through a box of my dad's photo stuff, I found a few old (I would guess like from the 70's!) Kodachrome-Ektachrome mailers. Could I still use them?
ciro_carpanzano
Wow, Kodak still sell mailers. I need the 24exp not the 36exp mailers. Who will process the mailers? I did search. Turned up with nothing I was looking for, so excuse yourself there. I'd rather deal with the processor directly...why the heck would I send film to Wal-Mart, out of all places? I've checked out Dwayne's site...they say nothing about slide film, only Kodachrome 8mm/16mm movie film.
Michael R Freeman
A very quick search of www.kodak.com (probably the FIRST place to look for *KODAK* info) would have found you this:<p><a href="http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=9/543/1095/1102/1147&pq-locale=en_US">KODACHROME Processing Laboratories</a><P>The list gets shorter every year. Use it while you still can.
robert_johnson15
Send all your PK-36, PK-24, PK-12 (E-6 only)mailers to: Kodak Mailer Processing C/O District Photo P. O. Box 3022 Beltsville, MD 20704-3022 This is the only current address. IF you send to Box 7000, Fair Lawn, NJ, they will be delayed. One reason I can think of for sending the film in by Wal-Mart -- it's CHEAPER. $4.88 for a 36 exposure roll of K-14 or E-6! Dwayne's does the K-14 and I think it depends on your region of the US where the E-6 is processed. FYI, here in the mid-south, it appears the same places does the E-6 as does the K-14. Same mounts, same black "coffin" box, same numbering, same everything - all cardboard mounts! Robert Johnson
randall_pukalo
Yes, all Kodachrome goes to Dwaynes, but the type of slide mounts and casing you get back depends upon whether it is a Qualex or Fuji allied proceeeor. Walmart goes thru Fuji, and you get them back in the paper mounts that say Color Transparency on it (in 60's style lettering!), as well as the black plastic storage trays. Also, they will not leave the slides uncut. But, the price is best. When I go thru Meijers (a Midwest Walmart competitor), they use Qualex, and the slides come back in the yellow Kodak logo storage trays, with "Kodachrome" Kodak paper mounts. They charge $5.88, but I can get the rolls unmounted, no problem.
dagata
Anywhere that sends to Kodak for processing is fine (i.e. CVS etc.). The ship to Kodak, Kodak ships to Dwayne's (only lab left in the US) and they come back in about ten days (if you're fortunate).
bill_pearce1
Just to clarify so there isn't a bunch of Kansas City area shooters that go bonkers, Dwaynes is in Parsons, about a half day drive. I don't know what the price difference is, but I believe they take mail orders, so you may be able to cut the time lag depending on your location. pics
To Robert Johnson: The address I have for Kodak mailers lists the zip code as 20705 which is different than yours. This is stated in the letter Kodak sent out over the summer which informed a change of address. Can anyone else verify this? I assume its correct since I usually get my Kodachrome back in 11-12 days. Thanks in advance.
robert_johnson15
TO Daniel Lawton-- Go to www.usps.com Select find a zip code at the top left of the page. Insert P. O. Box 3022, Beltsville, MD. Leave the zip blank! Hit submit and see what it says. You can also insert 20705, but it will change it to 20704-3022! I rest my case! pics
Thanks for the info. Maybe I'll try this zip and see if my film comes back faster.
fernando_mcsoto
I send my Kodachrome directly to Kodak in Switzerland by air mail and they bill my credit card for processing and send it back. Their address is: Kodak Processing Laboratories, Case Postale Ch-1001, Lausanne, Switzerland, Tel: +41.21.6310111, Fax: +41.21.6310150
terence_spross1
In the '50s the US Federal Trade Commission brought action against Kodak when they re-started including processing in the purchase price (as they had done when they first started making roll film cameras - they were like the disposables of today -only reloaded and resold). That FTC action was because in the fifties Kodak appeared like a monopoly almost (sort of like the Microsoft thing). The problem for Kodak, is that is the last couple of decades as Kodak has lost their market share, that rule has held. Independents can sell Kodak film with non-Kodak processing, but nobody can sell Kodak film with Kodak processing included. In other countries Kodak has been free to sell included processing. The closest Kodak comes today is selling premium disposables for print s with the word digital on them- The user pays for the film processing but the prepaid premium pays for the digital transfer to CD assuming you take it to a Kodak approved processor. Kodak rebates the processor. Some people here in the US buy mailers for Kodachrome processing in Europe.
battra92
I use my local supermarket. They charge $7.50 or so for the service of them mailing it to Dwaynes for me.
root
I just called Dwaynes. You can't send them mailers. In the US, you have to send mailers to Fairlawn or Beltsville (or whoever else will accept mailers) where they will be repackaged, sent to Dwaynes, returned to the "contracter", then returned to you.
