Zeiss Super Ikonta B 530/16 - value?

Recommended Posts

what is the current market value for a Super Ikonta B 530/16 80/2.8

Tessar, compur rapid shutter... cosmetically 7 - leather intact but

has the common bulging rivet problem (i think it gives it

character)... bellow are light tight, shutter good at all speeds...

glass is clean, minor dust, no oil on blades, rangefinder is accurate,

fairly contrasty patch, CLA'ed about a year ago by a former Kindermann

technician located in Oakville, Ontario...

thanks in advance for your input...

The bumps detract from its value. The 530/16 has separate finders for focusing and composing. I value it between $150 and $185 -- give or take $50-$150 (no kidding).

If you hit the market at the time when someone must have this model, you can do well. If you sell when there are a glut of these models, you get much less.

I always like the auctions that say "rare" and "you'll never see another like it," only to notice that there are three other simultaneous auctions with lower prices.

the bumps don't really concern me... like i said, i think it gives it character... only noticeable at the points where the copper rivets have oxided and raised a bit up against the covering...

i'm thinking about selling this wonderful user... i used it quite a bit when i got it, but have moved on to Crown Graphic with an Optar...

the super ikonta is great user, uncoated lens results in lower contrast images, but the lens is pretty sharp from f5.6 and up, rangefinder is relatively easy to use... although it is relatively small and compact (for a 6x6) i find it a little too heavy to pocket...

maybe i should list it at $150 and see what happens...

thanks for your input...

I bought mine 'as-is' with the idea of salvaging the lens and shutter to use on a 2x3 press, but I lucked out and didn't have the heart to cannibalize it so I restored it and except for the separate focusing/viewing I am glad I'm chicken hearted. BTW, the bumps don't have anything to do with the quality of the image so the hell with 'em!
