Dwayne's K-14 service?

Recommended Posts

I just received my first post A&I Kodachromes back from Fairlawn. I'm

pretty disapointed with the dirty mismounted slides they sent me. So

I'm looking for input about Dwayne's K-14 service. What has your

experience been?

I've had a lot of Kodachrome processed through Dwayne's, and overall, I'm pretty satisfied with their service. I have had 2 or 3 rolls come back with minor scratching, and one roll had some kind of small pieces of something embedded in the film (on about 5 of the slides), but all my other rolls have come back perfect. They've never mismounted my slides, and are pretty prompt. I would recommend them. I switch back and forth between Dwayne's and Fairlawn, just to use both.

I like Dewayne's a lot. The slides are always dusty though, so be ready to remove it before you do whatever you want to do with them. I think it is because of the type of mounting they use, it doesn't cut perfectly and sheers a bit of dust about. The service takes about a week to Virginia and the slides are returned in a very nice opaque plastic case. Its a bit more expensive than some other options and they charge for S&H too, so its not really economical to send just one roll, but you dont want exposed kodachrome sitting around, so, shoot more and you wont have a problem.
