FPS director "sorry" for courthouse photo difficulties

Recommended Posts

In an article in yesterday's (01/18/04) Portland Oregonian:

Ken Spitzer, regional director of the Federal Protective Service of

Homeland Security--the people who, among other things, supply

courthouse guards--said, of guards who detained Jeffery Thorns and told

him he couldn't take pictures of a Federal courthouse "They misspoke.

It's certainly not illegal." and "I'm sorry to hear this person had

that kind of difficulty." plus "as a result of this inquiry, I want to

follow up with our people."

Many thanks to Oregonian columnist Margie Boulé for chasing down the

people who could provide real answers (if I had a nickel for every

unqualified "yes it is"--"no it isn't" exchange on this subject...).

Sorry, forgot that photo.net sometimes break long links in half--

maybe this'll work:

<br><br>

<a href= http://www.oregonlive.com/search/index.ssf?/base/living/1074258241122040.xml?oregonian?ylvcmb>Oregonian</a>

<br><br>

or paste into your browsers address line:

<br><br>

http://www.oregonlive.com/search/index.ssf?/base/living/1074258241122040.xml?oregonian?ylvcmb

<br><br>

Or just use the search on the page that the truncated link brings up, using Source="Oregonian", Time Frame="Last 14 Days", Keywords="Photographer Courthouse" and then give them the zipcode, year of birth and gender that they want on the next page.
