l._duijvesteijn
Hey there, I've been reading about unicolor drums on this forum. Here's my question: is there a drum in wich I can develop 8x10" and 4x5" and rollfilm and not have to use it on a processor of some kind. So i'll do the agitation by hand. Anybody know of such a system? thanks! Lodewijk
louis_jensen1
The Unicolor 8x10 print drum will hold 4 4x5, 2 5x7, or 1 8x10 negative or paper.
__jon__
Lodewijk, The base for the Unicolor drum works very well and is very inexpensive on ePay. http://www.largeformatphotography.info/unicolor/
john_kasaian1
Lodewijk, I did the rolling around the drum thing by hand with a Western color print drum(you come across them every once in awhile at auction) and it is, without a doubt, one of the most boring things you'll ever do. You can probably pick up a unicolor drum and base for not much more than the cost of just the drum and I'd suggest going that route. For your roll film, a Patterson tank is the ticket!---Cheers! norman_riley
Jobo makes drums for 8x10 negatives - one handles four and another five at a time.
timberwolf1
Jobo is my choice. I have one. Unicolor is a low end product. Jobo processors can be temperature regulated. You can also just buy the drum and roll the drum on a roller which sets on a table: no temperature control. Buy more than one if you can. All drums need to be very dry before you load film. They can dry in about 18 hours. You could always agitate a Jobo drum just like a silver tank.
l._duijvesteijn
Ok everybody, thanks for the answers. I think i'll get the jobo cpa-2 with a lift. I've found one for a really low price. It includes paper drums wich are big enough for 8x10" negatives, but has anyone done this? They are not ribbed on the inside, so will the developer reach the back of the film (i will presoak)? If anyone has done this and has some advice I'd appreciate it! Lodewijk
