david_richert
Im posting this for a friend who had a binder of her negatives removed from her luggage by TSA while in route from Honolulu to Vancouver BC. Her luggage was open with out her being there and a note inserted in the suitcase stating the fact. The next day she noticed all her negatives missing (1800+). She is filing a claim but not sure of her legal and monetary value of her negatives. If any one has had a similar experience any help would be appreciated. Jerry_
She should contact and confer with a lawyer. Film is going to be paid for with a equal amount of un-exposed film: unless you have a lawyer versed in the 'loss of income' value of the negatives. Does your friend earn 'income' from photography? Can she produce numerous invoices and tax information records?
david_chananie
Your friend should get in touch with a lawyer named Bert Krages, who is a photographer and posts on photo.net. He is protective of photographer's rights. A figure that is often discussed for lost pictures in the stock photography business is $1,500 US per image.
