Where did you guys buy your Nikon D70 from?

None of the major companies I trust like Adorama, B&H, Ritz etc. have

the D70 in stock. So I'm wondering what happened to the D70 and

where do you guys get it from. Thank you. I've been waiting for

quite a while.

I got mine from B&H, I was on their wait list when the first shipment came in. If a local Ritz or similar (with competitive price) doesn't offer it as in stock now, get on someone's wait list - I understand they're presently hard to come by (as you know!).

<p>Actually a Wolf Camera (or Ritz) in San Leandro, CA had a few D70 bodies in stock.

I got mine from eCost in CA as B&H wouldn't tell me when I was going to mine or where in the list I was going to be. Go North! Call the camera stores in the places where it is still fairly cold in the States. That's how I find accessories. :-)

Ordered and got it through Penn Camera in Laurel MD - decided to go with my local store this time rather than mail-order.

 

I've got no problem with mail-order for a lot of stuff, but I like the support and service that you can get from the local places - at least you get to talk to someone face-to-face if there's a problem, and I think that means they'll go to a little extra effort.

 

At least if it is a good store, which I think Penn is.

I ordered mine in January from Dury's Photography store in Nashville, TN. Got it the 2nd week in March

I ordered from www.apple.com, they say they'll ship it today or tomorrow, so we'll see what happens.

I picked mine up Friday (April 16) from my local camera store (The Shutterbug, located in Eugene, Oregon). I called them a few weeks ago and asked them to call me when the next shipment came in. Well, several cameras arrived that were all pre-orders, but someone bailed out. So they called me. Of course, now they're out of stock again.

 

By the way, I should add that I typically hate warranties, but decided to go against my own personal policy on this camera. I picked up a Mack 3-year extended warranty. If you buy from a local camera store, beware that their Mack prices are probably going to be inflated. I think Adorama sells these for around $40, but my local store wanted $90.

Local Ritz store in NJ on 04/17/04. The shop where I purchased from had 3 D70 Outfit in stock.

 

Check bestbuy.com, they also have it in stock & can be picked up through local stores.

After getting on two waiting lists, I called a local camera store

(Kenmore Camera, Seattle) at noon, and they had just received

30 that morning. They were holding the cameras for only one

hour for prospective buyers. I managed to make the 90-minute

drive in 60 minutes.

J&R. It's faster if you can take the body w/o the lens.

I got mine at B&H. The trick is to do two things. Put your email address on their notification list and search the site every two days. I went in at 11:00AM on a Friday and purchased the camera. By 5:00PM they were out of stock. It's still a very popular camera. In fact Nikon is manufacturing 60,000 of them a month and they are still hard to get.

I picked up one at my local Ritz. Price is the same as Adorama and B&H but I had to pay sales tax. They tried to sell me their service plan a few times but I said no, no, and no. I would recommend trying a Ritz that is a little out of the way.
