r.m.
Do you use a fast prime or zoom? Currently using a zoom, but I'm tempted to use a fast 85mm or 100mm prime? What do you use & why? Thanks.

r.m.
I carry 2 cameras on my body during a wedding, so it isn't really an issue of what's available, Chris. It's a question of preference. What do all of you prefer to use when shooting the processional?
fotografz
Reina, if I have it with me, I prefer shooting the processionals with a pre-focused Hasselblad and 80/2.8. With 35mm or digital, I've used both a zoom (28-70/2.8L) and a prime (35/1.4L). I've come to favor the fast prime because it focuses better in low light due to the open aperture metering/auto focus, even if I'm shooting at f/4 or 5.6. Also, the prime is sharper at those apertures which allows larger enlargements or tighter cropping/ enlargements.
rich_dutchman1
Shooting digital, I use a 28 1.4 on one body and an 80-200 2.8 on the other. I guess I'd say the 28 is used most for the processional.

picturesque
80mm f2.8 Zeiss CFE with Hasselblad. 50mm or 60mm Zeiss if short aisle. If 35mm, 35mm or 50mm prime. When shooting both medium format and 35mm, 105mm (autofocus zoom) with the 35mm, and 80mm (zone focus) with the Hasselblad. Zone focus with medium f-stop for depth of field. If you use a longer lens, just be sure your autofocus can nail the focus every time when your subject is moving.
