Holga Polaroid Question

Recommended Posts

I've been a Holga user for a few months and just bought the Polaroid back. After wasting a

pack of film (and feeling very stupid) I have a question on how to load it since the steps and

photos on the instructions aren't super clear.

When you load your film pack into the camera, are you supposed to thread the lightproof

paper through the rollers? Or do you just leave it hanging out the side below where the cover

naturally closes over it (and then somehow the film feeds through the rollers)?

Thanks for your input...can't wait to get started taking some photos.

I ran into this as well and did the exact same thing you did. :)

Do not feed the lightproof paper through the rollers. Let the back close on the paper and just pull it out in one easy move. The small white pull-tabs will be right where they need to be for you to pull out the first sheet. The pull-tabs don't feed through the rollers either. They will pull the film leader out like they're supposed to :)

<< Do you get a 6x6 image or is it full size? >>

If you have a full-frame Polaroid Back for the Holga, the image area is 2.75 x 2.88 in (6.9 x 7.2 cm) which is the size of the image area on Type 80 film.

However, the first Holga back released by Polaroid was not full frame, and produced an image about 5.5cm x 5.7cm (this is a rough estimate because my ruler here is pretty bad)
