ives
Definitely bring a permanent marker, so you can write short, special notes on a film canister (e.g. push process to ISO 200, the roll with that winning landscape shot, etc.) These things should be written as soon as the roll is finished because they can be easily forgotten after 5 or 10 rolls of shooting. Try not to limit yourself to one camera. Cameras come and go, especially when you travel. Get a FM3a as many suggested, and bring along the F65 - it's light enough to be a backup. ulrik_pedersen
I hope you will have a nice trip.... Ive been to many countries, as you can see on my homepage, www.ulrikdk.com, both backpacking and working. I have the N60, so a real amateur. My suggestions is from a very practical view......not techincal. But heres my suggestions: Nikon 24-120 VR: You can get landscape and portraits on the same lens, without changing. Maybe its not going to be National Geographic quality, but you will not miss a picture, which i think is important if you take pictures to remember something. And with vr you will not miss that many shots. If you only print in size 10 times 15 centimers, the quality is not as important and you can also use a faster film and with this nikon lens..no problem). And maybe with the VR is almost as good (low light wise with the vr) at 50 mm that you will not need a the seperate one) Nikon 70-300 or 100-300: ive bought a really bad one in Bangkok, but it gave me so many, for me, nice pictures. So nice. Buy a decent one, but i will think its ok. You can get close to the monkeys, snakes, kangaroos etc....... 2 lenses and then your macro, for the close ups. 3 more things: A decent tripod: you can not live without for the evening shots and low light. External flash: For the night and 2 light up faces for portraits in the day. A compact camera" for party shots and if the other fails. Thats what i will do, because i dont want to change lenses etc. Hope you can use or just email me........ Have a nice trip. Ulrik
