steve_barnett2
For anybody interested the current Amateur Photographer has an article on the new M digital 10mp ('at least') body due for release in 2006. I couldn't see any reference to 1st April anywhere so who knows?
h._p.
Let's see, AP's official publication day is Wednesday and the day after is Thursday, April 1st. Well, Watson, you know my methods, apply them.....
simon_ball1
There's a whole article on the future digital M7 in the latest LFI, including an interview with Hanns-Peter Cohn, Head of Leica Camera AG, wherein the M digital is also discussed. It's coming...
john_robinson7
Yes, I have ameture photography aswell and read the article. Interesting! It's mainly about the sensor design and the way they get round being able to use the m lenses when it comes out ;)

Brad_
Jake: heh-heh So, do you need to remove the bottom plate to load a memory card? www.citysnaps.net
andrew robertson
When you remove the bottom plate, the memory card and battery fall out and bounce away. I wish Leica all the luck in the world, and they'll need it. Cosina has shown real innovation and a commitment to quality these last few years, and unless Leica can make a digital M for less than three times the price of the Digital Bessa (Which is supposed to be about $2500), I think they're screwed. Only the idle rich and truly clueless will purchase the Leica. The rest of the rangefinder world will have been shooting with their Bessa D for two years by then. waterden
The article also says that Leica is designing special lenses which get around the sharp incident angle problem that arises from close lens proximity to sensor. While it also says you will be able to use existing lenses the implication is that they won't be ideal, presumably because of aberrations. Bit pointless if this is the case. steve_barnett2
I think the 'micro lenses' referred to are in the body, and part of the sensor, to correct for the standard M lens rear element distance.
