Image Spooling Software for WiFi

I basicly need to duplicate what the olympic photographers were

using. I'm shooting events and need to WiFi my images to a server.

The distance from the camera to the server will be within 300 feet

and will aways be line of sight. The reason I can't just use a

Nikon/Canon WiFi attachment is because we'll be shooting faster than

the camera can send and we'll fill the buffer.

I need to shoot to a laptop (via USB or firewire) and let the laptop

spool the images and WiFi them to the server. Who makes spooling

software like that?

Can you just map the server's hard drive as the storage location?

For example, assuming your capture software's client allows you to specify a "Save to" location, you could specify that location/folder.

Note that while this configuration does work (using a D100 and Nikon Capture Control), it may not address your requirement for speed. I tested using an 802.11b card, and thew results were VERY slow. The D100's lack of USB 2.0 support is certainly a contributing factor, so the D2H, D70 or D2X will probably work much faster, but the wireless transfer will surely become a choking point, even using 802.11g.

Another option might be to write a script that detects the presence of a file in a particular folder on your laptop, then automatically moves that file to the server.
