You underestimate - and understate - your value and contributions, John. I have enjoyed your posts for the information they contain and for the helpful, unassuming style you use. Whatever your choice, I wish you happiness and good fortune. And some good pics, too.

a number of people have posted on the subject of jay's apparent AWOL. i just wanted to put your minds at ease -- i have seen numerous posts by jay in the last few days on the medium format digest forum here on photo.net. he is fine. indeed, he seems like he is a much happier, more positive person on the other forums where he posts. perhaps a break from the madness here was in order.

Don't go John. Reasoned, intelligent answers are often scarce on this forum (and yes...I include myself in the list of 'hotheads'). Jay is gone...oddly enough, considering he and I didn't get along famously, I'd not want him banned. One thing he, and his predecesor PK have taught me over the last couple of years is to ignore the threads I really don't like. Or even to answer sarcastically...but deny them their right to express their thoughts goes beyond what I wish to see happen.

Stephen W.: "Jay wasn't suspended from Photo.net, just the Leica Photography forum for 16-months (this is possible). Too many complaints from those that want him back. He e-mailed me on another matter (M7), and told me when I asked why he left. Kicked-off by whining to daddy.

Steve, thanks for some truth here. I wonder if any of the Quislings have the balls to admit in public that they engineered this backroom ouster. I doubt it.

Another good man gone... Just what this forum needs, another loss of quality brainpower.

John, IMO you exemplefied what it meant to be a Photo.Net Leica forum member; reasoned, witty, knowledgable and selfless in your willingness to share your knowledge with those of us less seasoned. Thanks for all the years of outstanding Leica advice you gave me. I hope you will visit some of the other boards and continue to share your gift.

Most respectfully,

Jack Flesher
