john_collier2
Well it has been an interesting few years and I have enjoyed this forum a great deal. There now seems to be more than enough Leica expertise lurking about that I doubt I will be missed. I wish you all the best. Cheers, PS: I put this in FS so it would be deleted and not clutter the archives.
mark-j
John: Expertise we can find, GOOD EXPERTISE is rare. I enjoy your posts and general information. Please stick around. Do you take PayPal? ;>) Cheers. Mark A. Johnson

kens
You underestimate - and understate - your value and contributions, John. I have enjoyed your posts for the information they contain and for the helpful, unassuming style you use. Whatever your choice, I wish you happiness and good fortune. And some good pics, too. karl_georg_wolf
Since JAY seems to have (already) departed from this site recently, your move is another great loss. Let us know how you´re getting on ... And: sincere thanks for your many useful, sensible thoughts here. Best regards

stephen_w.
I agree, stick around. You, unlike Jay (banned), leave voluntarily.
roger_michel
a number of people have posted on the subject of jay's apparent AWOL. i just wanted to put your minds at ease -- i have seen numerous posts by jay in the last few days on the medium format digest forum here on photo.net. he is fine. indeed, he seems like he is a much happier, more positive person on the other forums where he posts. perhaps a break from the madness here was in order. stephen_w.
Jay wasn't suspended from Photo.net, just the Leica Photography forum for 16-months (this is possible). Too many complaints from those that want him back. He e-mailed me on another matter (M7), and told me when I asked why he left. Kicked-off by whining to daddy. bobtodrick
Don't go John. Reasoned, intelligent answers are often scarce on this forum (and yes...I include myself in the list of 'hotheads'). Jay is gone...oddly enough, considering he and I didn't get along famously, I'd not want him banned. One thing he, and his predecesor PK have taught me over the last couple of years is to ignore the threads I really don't like. Or even to answer sarcastically...but deny them their right to express their thoughts goes beyond what I wish to see happen.
michael s.
Sixteen months? Back in Chicago, guys often did less "time" for violent offenses. But that is -- or should be -- the subject of another discussion. I don't know John Collier personally, but have genuinely appreciated his contributions. andrew_lee2
John Collier is one of the select few knowledgable heads here when it comes to tech talk (unlike the disturbingly myriad guys who frequently chime in with their "expertise" but don't know what they're talking about), along with Piper, Roger Michel, Jay, Al Kaplan, Marc Williams.. jackflesher
Another good man gone... Just what this forum needs, another loss of quality brainpower. John, IMO you exemplefied what it meant to be a Photo.Net Leica forum member; reasoned, witty, knowledgable and selfless in your willingness to share your knowledge with those of us less seasoned. Thanks for all the years of outstanding Leica advice you gave me. I hope you will visit some of the other boards and continue to share your gift. Most respectfully, Jack Flesher
