Apologies if this has been posted already. <p> The "Leica Digital Modul R" is priced at �4,500 at <a href="http://www.leicabeimeister.de/site/produkte.php?language=en">Leica bei Meister</a>. Same ballpark as the new Canon 1D Mark II (8mp, 1.3 crop) or the new Kodak 14n replacement (Pro SLR/n? - 14mp, full-frame). Close enough to the same ballpark for ya? Hell, even if the price in Euros wasn't <b>exactly</b> the same, $4,500 and �4,500 are in the same ballpark IMO (at a x1.25 exchange rate).<p> If you're referring to feature set (which I wasn't), will the two cameras be in the same ballpark? Pretty hard to say until they're out there in circulation. The 1DmkII is 8mp while the Leica is 10, the (advantage Leica). The crop of the Canon is 1.3 while the Leica is 1.37 (advantage Canon). Im sure the Canon will win the fps battle. john_robinson7 Posted March 22, 2004 Share Posted March 22, 2004 Hi, I just bought the Leica R9 from Jacobs(Englands main Leica dealer)and they just told me they have been sent the info from Leica stating that the digital back for the R8/R9 will be 12MP and priced at £2000 but I forgot to ask about full frame sensor, sorry.
