kieran_hamill
Whilst window shopping in my local camera shop on Saturday I came across a pristine OM varimagnifier with case for £15. I already have one, but it didn't stop me buying it. It makes a pleasant change, as in the past I've sometimes paid dear for OM gear I thought I was desperate for. What's the best OM bargain you have managed?
matthew_kerr
I bought it last week for $130 Australian, with a working OM10 behind it (that they wouldn't seperate...) The annoying part is I think I could have talked him down to $100... Oh, and the lens is probably the in the best condition mechanically of any of my lenses and there are no marks on any of the elements and, to top it all off, it takes nice pictures too:)
douglas_green1
I got a perfectly working OM-2n at a garage sale for $10. According to the person at the sale, it was "broken" because it didn't have a lens attached to it.
bob_katz1
My local drugstore decided to start taking used cameras on trade a few years back. Someone traded in some nice Zuiko lenses - a 24mm f2 MC, 35mm f2 MC, and a 300mm f4.5 MC - all mint. I got them for all for C$150 (US$100 at the time). Probably not as good a deal as free 40mm f2 Zuiko that came in a box of unwanted OM stuff, though...
photogbob
Just picked up a Zuiko 85mm f/2.0 for $60.00 on eBay. It sounds like it may require a cleaning which should run around $35.00, but the optics are in excellent condition. I'll let you all know how it performs after it's cleaned. wharridge
Zuiko 400/6.3 MC with hard case, caps & tripod mount for the equivalent of $US60.
john_mcmillin
I reentered the world of Zuiko last summer when I bought an OM-1 w/ 50 1.8 at a Denver pawn shop for $70. It was the last OM1 I've seen outside a photo store since! Two blocks away, at another pawn, I then found two Zuikos, a 100/ 2.8 and a 200/ 4.0. They were both fungusy, so I talked them down to $30 each. A local camera shop cleaned them for another $30 each. Total cost for OM1 and three lenses-- $130! The telephotos are on ebay right now. When I sell 'em, the tale will be complete...
weston_harries
At an antique store in a rural town I aquired an Olympus om-2n with "a shutter problem" for $25. The supposed shutter problem was just the mirror locked up, a simple fix with new batteries and a reset. The meter works perfectly, shutter speeds are accurate, and at just $25 it was basically like getting it free. An instant extra backup to my other OM bodies. I feel bad for the shop owner, when I brought it to the counter firing off the shutter repeatedly and he realized it fully worked, he knew he robbed himself at his stated price. If I could only be so lucky to find a cheap Varimagni, that's what I really want. -WH
