jose_grau
hello! I've read in this forum that canon's new digital cameras won't work in TTL. It seems that E-TTL is a must. But, What about A-TTL ? I have a Metz flash that works in this mode. Will it work in a D10 or a D300. Maybe?
yakim_peled1
No A-TTL either. They only work in E-TTL mode. Happy shooting , Yakim.
spyderman
No. Canon digicams are only compatible with E-TTL. TTL and A-TTL both use "light-reflected-off-the-film-plane" sensor, and since digicams have no such thing as film they also lack this sensor. E-TTL uses evaluative metering sensors located in the pentaprism and calculates flash output based on series of preflashes. You ll probably need a new flash. nick roberts
Indeed. But don't forget that old-fashioned non-dedicated auto flashes work just as well with dSLRs as with film ones, so you don't have to splash out on a 550EX, say. Nice if you can, though (just got mine this morning!).
jim_strutz
Does your Metz have an auto mode? Some do. That works fine with the 10D & 300D.
