tomwawer
Hello Igor! Wow - nice. What equipment do you use? Best regards from Warsaw, Poland to Poland? Tomek
james_oneill
In 1 & 3 the colour doesn't feel quite right. It's almost like a collage. It's better in 4. I've found that toning the image so that the skin is, roughly, flesh toned and then putting highlights in in colour works ....
davidfink_photography
Hi Igor, I have to agree with James that the color/bw combination on #1 and #3 does not work as well as on the other two. That said, all four of these are stunning and compelling. And your model is one of the prettiest girls I have ever seen. I hope she has a good agent.....she deserves to be "discovered". By the way, is your personal webpage down? I could not get it to load. Best wishes, David
preston_merchant
A little more light in the model's eyes would be good.
jay_de_fehr
Igor, those desaturated B&W images look really flat and lifeless to me, and the selective color just looks contrived and out of place. Beautiful model though.
mike dixon
To add to the consensus: I think 2 works best and 4 works okay. The color in 1 and 3 is garish.
igord
Hello - for me no 3 works the best, I like it flat and collage like looking. But it is just my taste.
dougmiles
Hi - My first reaction was to admire your model; what a great face, beautiful eyes! Lots of possibilities there to work with. The selective desaturation strikes me as a gimmick that detracts from the otherwise admirable assets of the photos. Maybe some more subtle approach to this technique? gavin martin
Hi Igor. I'm a fan of your stuff as you know. I will get around to sending you that print soon too! The only issue that I have with these photo's is that the Black & White is too flat. It looks like an over developed print would. I think that the de-saturated areas need more punch to them, I would up the brightness & a little more contrast to give more of a high key look. Just one mans's view. igord
Gavin - I go straight to the post office tomorrow... Why all the photos must look "properly"? I made this compresion to get rid of midtones, to get more "sketch" look so the coloures must stand out, they can't be flat. Most things that I do in colour neg are compressed too. Now I see that most of you like the sharp, full tonality stuff which I do not like personally. I don't want to achieve so called "professional look" becouse it is boring and too obvious. josh_thornton
#1 is a really nice shot overall, so I'll be a bit nitpicky to help you with a few details. The models looks much younger in this shot than the other 3 IMHO which can be good or bad depending on what you are going for. A few critiques...there is a small wrinkle of skin just below her jaw-line on her neck that is a tad distracting. by tipping her head a bit further down in the front, this line would not be seen. Also, I'm not particularly fond of the shirt she's wearing, from this angle her breasts look saggy though I highly doubt they are. #2 is pretty darn good. I think eyes are a bit dark and her eyebrows might use a bit of trimming/plucking near the nose. I think #3 is by far the strongest photo of the bunch. Her eyes aren't nearly as dark (in shadow) as they are in the rest of the photos. a really really superb shot. I'm not sure if you want her skin to look the same 'tone' throughout, but her legs are much darker than her arms, face, and chest. Personally I'd lighten them, but that's just my opinion. #4 is by far the weakest in my opion. The model's eyes are very dark and her teeth are creeping through. I would suggest having her close her mouth completely and bouncing a bit of light up to hit those eyes. Overally really nice work though. Well done!
